The NSW Snow Driver Program is a specialised non-accredited training course designed for coach and bus drivers operating within the NSW snowfields.
Delivered by Driver Training NSW, this program combines both theoretical and practical training components to meet the requirements outlined in Accreditation Bulletin Update 1.3 (May 2020), issued by Transport for NSW (TfNSW).
This course is ideal for drivers and operators preparing to safely transport passengers through alpine conditions, with a strong focus on safety, legislation, vehicle preparation, snow chain use, alpine driving techniques, hazard awareness, and incident management.
Course Delivery
Theory Training
$350 + GST per person
Practical Training
$550 + GST per person
Following successful completion of the theory component, drivers will undertake practical snow driving training in Jindabyne.
This hands-on practical assessment includes:
Snow chain fitting
Alpine driving techniques
Hazard management
Competency assessment on designated alpine routes
Entry Requirements
Participants must hold:
A current and valid Driver’s Licence
NHVR Logbook
NSW Driver Authority Card
Drivers must also be proficient in the use of snow chains and provide a signed third-party verification report from their workplace supervisor prior to practical assessment.
